Blurb:
Sammy is an 80 year old billionaire, who finds himself at the peak of his success built on a mountain of sacrifices. He decides to participate in a life he missed to live. Eleven months in a year he leaves behind his identity and money and allows his curiosity and his willingness to experience anything - death even, to take him on life changing adventures and experiences across the world. Loaded with wisdom, surprise, humor and an eagerness to embrace life, The Wise Man Said is a collection of twelve such adventures of Sammy, where his journey becomes his greatest achievement - a life well lived.
“I have travelled through cities and villages alike. But the further I went away from the hustle, the closer I came to humanity.”
My thoughts:
The story revolves around Naina, a storyteller who gained fame through three of her previously published books. Her stories often have positive impact on the readers which is quite contrary to her real life since she hasn’t found her true happiness yet.
Naina has a deadline of 24 hours to submit her next story, which she hasn’t even started working upon even though six months have passed by. To find peace and solace, she advances to an isolated path that leads her to a sunflower field. She comes across an elderly man named Sammy, wearing a white robe and bright red shoes, and was drawn towards him because of his distinct personality and positive vibes.
Upon further conversation, it is revealed that Sammy is an 80-year-old billionaire and the owner of 32 companies. On his journey of creating wealth and building a legacy, he had neglected his family and soon lost all of them one-by-one. He then decided to work precisely for thirty-five days and explore the world for the rest of the year. Whenever he meets an interesting person on his journey, he exchanges an item with them. Before embarking his next journey, he takes Naina’s scarf and leaves behind his diary.
‘The Wise Man Said’ is a collection of sixteen stories out of which, twelve describes the adventures of Sammy - the places he had been to and the interesting people he met.
“As I take a part of you, I leave you a part of me.”
Likes:
♥ The book was packed in an extremely cute cover and was signed by the author.
♥ The book cover is both dreamy and magical. Like always, I was attracted towards this book because of how beautiful the cover is.
♥ The title is apt since it describes the adventures of Sammy and the things he learnt and experienced on his journey.
♥ The language is coherent and the writing style is vivid.
♥ The book is written in the form of a diary and the titles given to each chapter are congruous.
“No matter what future awaits me, I have now and that’s what counts now.”
Dislikes:
💔 Instead of keeping a separate section of “What I Missed Seeing Then…” after every chapter, I would have preferred if those points were included in the chapter itself.

Recommend?
I recommend this to everyone who has been feeling slightly demotivated lately. This book will definitely glue a smile onto your face.
"The path may come to an end but that doesn't have to be the end of the journey."
