December Wrap Up

Hey, readers! December was not really a productive month for me in terms of reading. I read a total of 4 books this month. But this does give me a total of 30 books read in 2019, thereby, surpassing the reading goals of this month by 10 extra books!!
Here's a quick wrap up of all the books I read.

1. West BEgg

✨ The story revolves around the lives of four main characters – Luca, Anna, La Revolução and Paquita.
Luna works under Macco One in a poultry equipment company. Anna works under Madame in Sicily in a company manufacturing CucunZZZ drink. La Revolução is an architect who works alongside Iraja. Carolina works under Matthias in a railway development project in Madrid. Although the four work in different parts of the world and are unknown of one another’s existence (until later in the story), the lives that the four live are quite similar. They are all ‘A punch bag, a tea towel, a toilet bowl’ for their respective bosses. While the bosses engage in a life filled with arrogance and power; Luca, Anna, La Revolução and Paquita go around cleaning their mess. West BEgg is a dark yet humorous satire that encapsulates the lives of those working in the corporate world.
✨ The book is medium paced. The author has provided in-depth characterization which makes it easier for the readers to connect with the characters involved in the book.
✨ There are way too many characters in the story which makes it a tad bit difficult to remember and differentiate between the various characters.
Overall, an average read.

2. Skipping Christmas

✨ This has been the first Christmas based novel I have read, all thanks to @paper_back_bombay (do check out their store)💕
✨ Now although I made a hasty decision of buying this book without even reading its blurb, fortunately, it turned out to be a pretty light read.
✨ The story revolves around the lives of Luther and Nora Krank, who decide to skip Christmas for a year since their daughter was going to be out of town. The couple decides to invest the money, that usually goes into Christmas shopping, on a cruise trip. Although they somehow manage to tolerate the rage and tantrums of their neighbors due to their negligence of such an auspicious festival, Mr. & Mrs. Krank stays diligent in their decision and start preparing for sailing the cruise. Now the question remains, will Luther and Nora get onto the cruise? That's for you to read and me to dot dot dot (...) 😜
✨ I really enjoyed reading this book. The language and writing style was easy to comprehend. The characterizations were pretty average, though. But, it gave me the perfect Christmas vibes.

3. DareDreamers

✨ Got done with this book in the last week of December (or shall I say the decade 😂)
✨ So, the story revolves around Rasiq who is an IIT-IIM graduate and lands up in a job as an investment banker in Mumbai soon after. Although he was living a luxurious life, he had most definitely lost his relationships and his carefree nature. He then decides to quit his job and moves back to his hometown. Initially, he had no idea about what he wanted to do with his life. But after he meets with a severe accident, he was almost immediately hit with a plan.
✨ Rasiq comes up with a start-up business idea called DareDreamers, a rescue team that provides safety services to its clients. He joins hands with 5 superheroes -- Nick, Halka, Arjun, Dr.Vyom and Natasha; and together, the six of them start working on innovative ideas to deliver their best services. But like any other start-up company, DareDreamers too were confronted by their rival firm, G-Force, who worked upon every possible way of ruining DareDreamer's reputation and eliminating them from the market.
✨ Will G-Force succeed in their evil plan and get rid of DareDreamers for good? Will Rasiq be able to save his dream team? That's for you to read and me to dot dot dot (...) 😂
✨ I honestly had low expectations from this book. But I was surprised by how much I enjoyed reading it.
✨ Rating: ★★★★.5

4. Echoes

✨ This was my last read of 2019, and honestly, I didn't enjoy it at all.
✨ Echoes consist of a number of proses about human life and existence. The author has tried to connect the various aspects of life to nature. Now I know this originally sounds very pleasing, the author did compare every characteristic of life with various elements of nature, but it just did not seem to make sense to me. The language of the author was ambiguous and incomprehensible. The poems also lacked rhythm, which is a huge let down for me. 🙈
✨ Overall, not a very pleasant read. 😅

And, that marks the end of 2019 for me. I read a lot more this year, than I ever did, which certainly makes me really happy. I have decided to set the reading challenge for 2020 to read at least 30 books. I wish to dive into a lot more into the *highly recommended* books.
I hope you all have a Happy New Year, 2020!
