Plot :
Soulmates are not always two people who are partners-in-relationship. A soulmate is a person whom we come across by chance and that person immediately completes the jigsaw puzzle of our lives and suddenly we feel complete. This short story 'Soulmates' is about two such people, Niyati and Arjun.
"Love has become more of a ‘hashtag’ rather than being a real feeling."
My Thoughts :
Arjun and Niyati studied together in the coaching class for their medical entrance exams. Niyati -- the daughter of a successful doctor couple belongs to a wealthy family; whereas Arjun comes from a lower middle class family and is pressurized by his responsibilities.
"Life is an exam where the syllabus is unknown, and question papers are not set."
Even though Arjun and Niyati were brilliant in their studies and belonged to the same batch, they never really met each other. Due to the over expectations of their parents, their marks began to degrade continuously.
Their fate changes when Niyati meets Arjun in the canteen one day and they both instantly connect with each other. Without even a realization, their first conversation was followed by many more.
"They both got along like a house on fire. The sentences that were started by Arjun were finished by Niyati and vice versa. It was as if they understood each other so well that words were not even needed for their conversation."
When the exam approached, they promised to meet after the final results were out to discuss their future together. Niyati outshone in her exams and was selected in a reputed institute in India. She did not wish to waste any second and tried contacting Arjun (for days) -- but all in vain. She could not understand why Arjun had left without a word. Disheartened, she decided to move on with her life.
The story then captures the emotions of Niyati - who couldn't shrug off her feelings for Arjun, and the situation in which destiny reunites them, only to leave them heartbroken again.

Likes :
♥️ It was a quick read.
♥️ I loved the writing style employed by the author.
♥️ When I started reading the story, I honestly expected it to have a cliché ending. But I was pretty surprised by the twist.
♥️ The author promotes good vibes in this books and helps us look at life with a positive outlook. When things don't work out as per our plans, they are probably falling in the right places in reality.
♥ The author urges us to positively accept whatever happens in our lives rather than trying to change it.

Dislikes :
💔 There is nothing that I disliked about this book.

Recommend?
Definitely! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would love to pick up another book by the author.
"But they both knew that they were two ends of a river that could never meet."
