“In the search for answers we are challenged to do what we feel is right, but before you judge someone based on their actions, understand that you will never know the full story behind them.”
Blurb :
Michael's life is one of little importance, which is a far cry from his dreams of being a hero throughout childhood. Several traumas in his life lead Michael down a path of vengeance in his fathers name. Guided by the desire to leave a legacy and create change, Michael battles disease and internal demons to catch his fathers killer and those that prey on society. As he delves deeper into a world of violence, Michael must balance his personal life, newfound identity, and the darkness that inevitably creeps into his life as he struggles to complete his mission.
"One of my biggest peeves in life is when people say that they’re not afraid of dying. Everyone’s scared of it; everyone but the God fearing folk, the real religious types (not the fakers). These are the people that have completely deluded themselves as to the scary nature of death."
My thoughts :
✽ The main protagonist of the story is Michael. So the story begins with the funeral of Michael's father - Martin Burton 'Martial'.
✽ Micheal is an atheist - - and I do mention this because the book contains a lot of Michael's options on religion and God.
✽ Michael's father had abandoned his family after his co-owner Kyle Davis got him out of the force which further led to Martial's depression.
✽ Saturdays were always special for Michael because he would spend the entire day with his father watching superman cartoons, building a fortress of solitude, wrestling, attending Jiu Jitsu and much more.
"Son. Three things have hurt me. Being shot, being fired, and now being without you. This is the worst, but for the best. Take care. Dad."
✽ Michael's mother was a drunkard and a self centered woman, who had left his son soon after she won a lottery of 8 million dollars.
✽ So Martial always had a huge crush on Doctor Scorpio's hot receptionist - Monica, who one day appears at Michael's door after Micheal creates a scene at the Doctor Scorpio's office.
✽ Michael's now girlfriend - Monica, persuades him to get his treatment and elongate his lifespan. She wishes for Michael to have achieved something great in his life for people to remember him.
✽ After the funeral, Micheal moves into the house his father left for him. He finds a lot of his father's belongings - a bunch of papers all over the walls, diaries and weapons. This makes him believe that his father wasn't depressed, instead he was on a mission.
✽ After going through all the stuff, Michael realizes that it is he, who has to carry forward his father's legacy and complete his mission.
✽ Michael had to keep his mission a secret from Monica which gradually becomes difficult.
✽ On his mission, he encounters & helps Daisy out from a life threatening situation. Daisy plays an important role in Michael's life later on.
"Taking them down one at a time won’t do. No matter how it’s done, they need to go down all at once to win!"

♥ Firstly, something I love the most about this book is its cover and the title! That was all the motivation I needed to pick this book up as soon as possible!
♥ I'm glad that the book focused more on Michael's mission rather than his health issues.
♥ The book has heart warming descriptions of Micheal and Martial's Saturday routines.
♥ The language of the writer is easy to understand.
♥ The book was a real thriller. I absolutely loved the progress the book made after Micheal becomes 'The CK'.
♥ Both Monica and Daisy play a wonderful role in Michael's life. I did enjoy the story-line shared by Michael with both the ladies.
♥ Also, I loved how Michael's actions received mixed opinions from the world. It made his actions more realistic. Supporters or haters, Michael made the world a better place for the people to live in.
"Don’t cut deals, don’t give light sentences, and close the loopholes that get these victimizers off with a slap on the wrist. People, there is strength in numbers. Hundreds of people against the criminals will win every time."
Dislikes :
💔 The book seemed a little slow paced and draggy in the beginning.
Recommend?
I would recommend reading this book if you are someone who loves action and thriller.
